 ATHLETICS (TRACK AND FIELD) 

 

Athletics (Track and field) is a Sports  which includes Athletic contests  established on the events of Running , Jumping , and Throwing . There are divided in to Three parts

1 Track Event – which conduct in Track   Example 100 m ,200 m ,400m hurdle Race and Relay Race etc

2 Field Event - which conduct in Field   Example- Jumping Event, Throwing Event

3 Combined Event – Decathlon (3jump,3 throw ,4 running)

In Track Event

Running Events – Three Type

1 Sprint (short distance run) – 100m,200m,400m,100mH,110mH,400m H

2 Middle distance Run - 800m ,1500m ,3000m,3000m Steeplechase

3 Long distance Run – 5000m,10000m, Marathon

Field Event (Jump Events and Throw Events)

In Jump Events

1 Long Jump

2 High Jump

3 Triple Jump

4 Pole Vault

In Throw Events

1 Shot Put

2 Javelin Throw

3 Discus Throw

4 Hammer Throw

Combined Events

1 Decathlon (Only for Men)

 (First day)

 100metre dash, long  jump, shot put, high jump, and 400-metre run;

(second day)

110metre hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw, and 1,500metre run.

2 Heptathlon (only for Women)

  (First day)

100metre hurdles, high jumpshot put, and 200metre run

(second day)

long  Jump, javelin throw, and 800-metre run

 

Sprints   :- In which a runner tries to run the Whole distance at his full speed

Starting Technique   :- There are two types of technique in running start, standing star and croach start

 1 Standing Start   :- A start taken by standing position near the starting line,Runner use  the standing start  in middle and long distance races.

 

 


 

 ‘’ON YOURS MARKS’’ Command

A Place one foot forward (strong leg) and one back ward just behind the starting line

B Both leg distance is shoulders width.

C Back (spinal cord ) neck and head in one line.

D Toe Facing forward 

 ‘’SET’’ Command

 A Upper body Should be slightly downward

B Body weight should be on front leg toe               

C Both hand elbow bends up to 45-degree angle       

 ‘’FIRE’’ OR ‘’GO’’

 A Look at the ground, about one metre in front of your feet

B Move or Drive your arms and legs forward as much as faster

C To take back foot first.

Starting block

runner use starting block in Crouch start for sprints, starting block used in gaining momentum ,if Quick As Possible can improve performance time in a race

2 Crouch Start  :- There are three types of Crouch start for sprint in athletics ,

A Bullet or Bunch or Rocket or Short Start  :- Short start use by short height runners.

IN  ’’ ON YOURS MARKS’’ COMMAND

A Runner walk forward near to starting line .

B Make 4 Point Position two hands and two toe touch the ground ,hip should be upward

C  left feet place on one feet away from starting line  (When left leg strong )

D right knee place on near to arch of left feet

E  both hands make bridge position

F Neck in downward and relax position




IN  ’’ SET ’’ COMMAND

1 Raise your hips above shoulder level.

2 Boby weight on both hand fingers and front leg toe

3 Shoulder are slightly forward ahead of hands 

4 eyes look at abdominal

5 Front leg knee angle approximately 90 degree

6 Rear leg angle should be 130 -140 degree

7 contrite on command 



IN ‘’FIRE’’ COMMAND

1 Drive rear leg first as much as faster

2 both hands swing in opposite direction 

3 Take harder push by block
